Tonight’s Temposphere stretched from vintage tracks by The Mamas and the Papas (a funky buried gem called Shooting Star) and Stevie Wonder to lots of new stuff including music from the great new Groove Merchant compilation plus a cut by Black Dub, Daniel Lanois’ new quartet who are appearing at The Cedar on Wednesday (11/12). It’s all available as a convenient MP3 stream at the KFAI site where you can also locate the complete playlist (located here as well, after the break.)
Eddie Grant, Cincinnati Reds. 1911 by Paul Thompson via defensive indifference
Sophia Loren on Barclay (France), early 60s.
It was a great pleasure to debut a couple of tracks from the gorgeous new CD called Afrocubism (a summit meeting of top musicians from Mali and Cuba) alongside diverse soulful and funky tracks from Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Jamaica, Brazil and points beyond on today’s edition of Global Beat. The show is available as an MP3 stream for two weeks at the KFAI site, where you can also find the playlist (here as well, after the break).
