African Rhythms, KFAI 06/16/11

There’s been a surge of powerful music from the sub-Sahara in the last few years and one of the finer pracitioners is the Malian group Terakaft. We heard a cut from their new CD Aratan N Azawad on today’s African Rhythms, along with new music from Karl Hector & the Malcouns, a track from the forthcoming K. Frimpong & his Cubano Fiestas vinyl reissue and much more. The show is available for two weeks as an MP3 stream at the KFAI site; the playlist is posted there (and here) as well.
