Some new tracks by contemporary luminaries like Shawn Lee, Bibi Tanga & the Selenites and Ocotea (Georgia Anne Muldrow’s new spiritual jazz project) mixed nicely with cuts from venerable artists including Sugar Minott, James Brown and Gilberto Gil on tonight’s installment of Temposphere on KFAI. Global Beat, KFAI 04/14/10

Today’s edition of Global Beat skewed heavily towards the R&B side of things with new cuts from Sharon Jones, Erykah Badu, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Quadron (a soulful combo from Copenhagen) alongside classics from Al Green, The Counts and Gil Scott Heron as well as the usual mix of Afrobeat, samba, salsa and reggae. It’s the eve of Rudolph Valentino Day 2010 and it’s the Rocky mix on Temposphere with cuts from a  diverse roster of artists including The Bamboos, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Al Green, David Bowie and the comparatively less heralded Frank Ricotti.
