Haul And Pull Up Selecta

October 9, 2007

Within the corporate realm of UK Sanctuary, the amazing catalog of Trojan Records has been revitalized over the last 5 years or so with an unprecedented stream of essential compilations and reissues. What happens with the Trojan imprint under its new owner Universal (will it be rolled into the Island brand?) remains to be seen. In the meantime we’re still catching up with some of the great releases of recent years. Haul And Pull Up Selecta is a double disc set of late 70s and early 80s hard roots (already then starting to become known as dancehall) that digs deep for fantastic 12″ mixes by Barrington Levy, Barry Brown and others. You won’t feel bad if you’re able to track down a copy and add it to your playlist. (Choice cuts: The Viceroys: My Mission Is Impossible, They Can’t Stop Us Now)

More Trojan picks coming up this week.
